This method can also be useful to trap sugar ants.

Steps:

  1. Mix three tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, water, and a few drops of dish soap in a bowl.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap.
  3. Poke a few holes large enough to fit a fruit fly with a toothpick.
  4. Place the bowl in the bathroom.

  • Remove damp clothes and mops: Throw away unnecessary clothes and rags in the bathroom. You can dry them in the sun if you want to reuse them. The same is true for the wet mops; wring them after use and dry them in the sun. Doing this will prevent fruit flies from living in your washroom.
  • Clean sink and drain: You must periodically clean the sink, drain and drain pipes if you want to stop breeding fruit flies. Use a long soft-bristled brush to clean the pipes properly. Apply hot vinegar solution for effective cleaning.
