Can you help Charlie?

Posted 28 July 2011 10:06 by martin

Charlie Doherty contacted us yesterday for help with a problem he was experiencing with our new iPhone app.

During our conversation, it transpired that Charlie, along with his mum, is at the beginning of a 4 week expedition to cycle from Brighton to Scotland with his mum, in aid of Mary's Meals – a charity school that sets up feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.

Charlie is 11 years old.

I asked Charlie to send me a few words to explain why he's doing it, with the promise that I would put his story on the blog, and hopefully raise a bit more profile for his efforts (though frankly it doesn't look to me like he needs anyone's help). Over to Charlie:

I've been doing charity work since I was 4 for many causes, and have raised over £22,000 but I now focus on Mary's meals which feed starving children all over the world and also educates them, as they get fed at school, and less than 2p can feed a child for a day and £6.15 can feed a child for a whole year.

If you go onto my just giving page ( and click on the Mary's meals logo it will go onto their website and you will get more detail about them.

Many many many many many thanks

If you want to support Charlie in his efforts, why not pop over to his Just Giving donations page. As things stand he has raised £13,465 of his £15,000 target.

Good luck Charlie.
