Victoria Tube Station is to undergo a £700 million refurbishment to upgrade three escalators before the 2012 Olympics, which is expected to increase demand for the already congested station.

Commuters have been advised to avoid the station during rush hour for the next 12 months while the improvements are carried out. Transport for London have advised that passengers use alternative stations during this time, as it could take up to 15 minutes to reach the platforms at Victoria. In addition to this, tickets offices will be closed between the hours of 16.00 and 20.00.

If you usually commute into Victoria, then jump on the tube to your final destination, you might want to rethink your options during this time. Here are a few easily walkable routes from Victoria Rail Station:

Victoria to Covent Garden – 33 minutes
Victoria to Waterloo – 33 minutes
Victoria to Paddington – 43 minutes
Victoria to Bank – 1 hour
Victoria to London Bridge – 1 hour
