Happy new year

Happy new year from all of us here at the walkit.com team!

It's only the 4th of January, so hopefully you're all still full of good intentions and resolutions to exercise more, eat better, drink less, do your bit for charity, save money, save the planet, generally be a better person…….and the list goes on.

Improving both your physical and mental well-being, and saving yourself some money at the same time, can be easy if you just squeeze a bit of walking into your daily routine. If you think your enthusiasm might dip in a few weeks, why not sign up to mywalkit+ to keep you focussed.

We're also loving the Guardian and Observer's Start Happy season – helping you to avoid any January blues by eating well, sleeping well and exercising.

Guardian StartHappy

Throughout January you'll be able to access articles, blogs, videos, giveaways and more on the Start Happy site, in order to help you start the new year in as positive a state of mind as possible.

Each week, you'll be able to find exciting and useful new guides full of expert advice, exploring different elements of personal wellbeing and offering lasting alternatives to short-lived resolutions. We're particularly fond of their first contribution, which states “Even a five-minute walk outside to escape your work can re-energise you and restore your mental fatigue.”

So get going, and start the year as you (realistically!) mean to go on.
