ITV's Walk4Life Day - 26.9.10

Posted 24 September 2010 14:28 by martin

This Sunday 26th September, ITV’s Walk4Life Day is taking place.

The aim of the day is to encourage people to walk more, and many organised walks will be taking place around the country, with support from Walk England, Natural England, Living Streets, Sustrans, Rambler’s, British Heart Foundation and many other organisations. The events are open to everyone from experienced ramblers to first time walkers.

Walk4life Day is part of the Department of Health’s Change4Life campaign, a nationwide movement which aims to help us all eat well, move more and live longer. Change4Life brings together brings together local, commercial and governmental partners to help people all over the country understand the long-term health risks of a poor diet and sedentary lifestyle.

It’s the small and simple changes that can make a big difference. Walking is a great way to improve the general health of the whole family. It's a feel-good exercise that's good for the environment… and it’s completely free.

There are a number of led walks and events that are taking place on Sunday; you can search for one near you here. Or, if you can't find a suitable event going on near you, then why not plan your own walking event with friends and family by generating a circular walk.
