A sonic walk along London's South Bank

Posted 7 May 2010 11:08 by martin

The London-based sound artist, Patrick Baxter contacted us the other day.

He's created a piece of ambient music – Blackfriars_Westminster – that can be used 'to soundtrack' the riverside walk along the South Bank in London.

You start listening at Blackfriars Bridge then simply follow the river path until you reach Westminster Bridge.

The music has been especially composed to fit with the surroundings, based on a journey time of 19 minutes – so you don't have to peg it, but you can't dawdle either.

Along the way a number of important points are marked in sound – some are specific, others are less obvious. The aim is for the music to enhance the short journey, enabling you to gain a new perspective on the surroundings.
