Why are we running a car ad?!

Posted 13 August 2009 08:54 by jamie

You may have noticed we're running some ads for the Toyota Prius.

Hardly a Hummer, but questionable for walkit.com to be running a car ad at all (even for a Toyota 'Pious'…)?

Quite a while ago we sparked a bit of a debate on Facebook about whether we should be accepting any such ads, and the consensus seemed to be 'go for it'.

But what do you think?

Hell, I'm sure you need the money. Go for it.

as long as your policy for publishings allows it and it sounds ethical then why not

i support walkit.com and appreciate what you all do.

i'm not sure how prius' have got a reputation for being ok environment-wise. they have two engines don't they? surely that's got to be heavy, which equals more fuel.

even if they run partly on electricity – how is that electricity generated?

i guess whether to run the ad or not depends on whether walkit.com is about sustainability…. or not. if not, run whatever ads you like. but if you are, i find it a bit strange.

I love WalkIt so I support most anything that brings income to the site to keep the service improving.

@migratingFishSwim – Do a bit of research into your two-engine thought. You will see that a small electric engine with high torque and a small petrol engine are lighter and more fuel efficient than one normal petrol engine.

You need all the sponsorship you can get. Most of us walkers also drive? No probs with a car ad

Any chance of you doing routes for City of Brighton?
